Benview and the local towns.
Benview is located within the Yass Valley Shire on the Dog Trap Road, which extends from Yass Town almost to the border of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Benview is at the ACT end of Dog Trap Road, allowing easy commuting along the Barton Highway to the central business district of Canberra.
The nearest town to Benview is the Village of Hall, which also predates the foundation of the ACT. Hall is a small village, which retains much of its character from the past, and has businesses that service the rural areas across the nearby new South Wales border.
Yass is a much larger town than the Village of Hall. Yass also retains its character and history from times past, and is increasingly becoming home to people who work in Canberra. It is close to the Hume Highway and the interstate railway, which provide the main transport links between Melbourne and Sydney.
The Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales.
Benview is halfway between Canberra and Yass. The property is at the top of an escarpment, which drops down to the Murrumbidgee River. The Murrumbidgee River is part of the Murray-Darling Basin, one of Australia's largest drainage divisions which covers one-seventh of the continent. Across the Murrumbidgee to the south west are the Brindabella Mountains, and beyond that the Kosciusko National Park with the Snowy Mountains. The Kosciusko National Park contains a number of ski resorts, with Mount Kosciusko being the highest mountain in Australia.
